Biologists take home poster awards during this year’s Life Sciences Week
Congratulations to the six biologists who won poster awards at this year’s Life Sciences Week.
Aditi Mishra, a Ph.D. candidate, won second place in the life sciences innovations category at the awards ceremony.
Her poster covered the research she is doing on the development of novel thermogenetic tools in fruit flies, which she is carrying out in the lab of Dr. Troy Zars.
Dr. Robert Kazmierczak, a postdoctoral fellow, won second place in the comparative and translational medicine category at the awards ceremony.
His poster covered his research on developing novel cancer-targeting treatments using bacteria, which he is carrying out with Dr. Yves Chabu and the Cancer Research Center.
Honorable Mention
Micah Turrell, who is minoring in biology, won honorable mention in the ecological and evolutionary biology category at the awards ceremony.
His poster covered the research he is doing on evaluating the critical thermal maxima among four species of Missouri salamanders, which he is carrying out in Dr. Manuel Leal’s lab.
