Student evolution movie project

Dec. 15, 2015

Students in Associate Professor Manuel Leal’s Bio_Sc 4600, Evolution, course produced their own short films as a final project this semester.

The student-directed films covered a range of evolutionary topics, including natural selection, convergent evolution, co-evolution, genetic drift, adaptation, and more.

The films were screened in class, and students voted on their favorite.

The class’s favorite movie, shown below, is the work of Jonathan Hund, Mikko Viudez, Ruben Bueno, Duben Ikedionwu, Adrian McPherson, and Conner Rogan. In the film, the students explore the evolutionary costs and benefits of selfish and altruistic behaviors.
