Five Biology Professors Celebrated at Faculty Recognition Banquet

Professors Stephen Alexander, Julia Taylor, and John Walker were recognized for their 25 years of service at MU.

The University of Missouri honored five faculty members from the Division of Biological Sciences on October 30 during its annual Faculty Recognition Banquet at the Reynolds Alumni Center.

Professors Stephen Alexander, Julia Taylor, and John Walker were honored for their twenty-five years of service to MU. Each was presented with a framed poster acknowledging their years of service.

Associate Professor John David was recognized for his receipt of the President’s University Citizenship Award for Service. This system-wide award recognizes faculty for their distinguished service and who demonstrate exceptional contributions to one or more goals of the university while embodying its values.

Professor H. Carl Gerhardt was recognized for his receipt of the Thomas Jefferson Award. The highest honor bestowed by the University of Missouri System, the Thomas Jefferson Award recognizes faculty who rise above excellence and demonstrate clear distinction in teaching, research, writing, creative activities, and service to the university and to humankind, while exemplifying the principles and ideals of Thomas Jefferson.
